Abstract
The Good Practice Principles for the Provision of Sport and Recreation for Young People promote a child-centered and ethical approach to providing sport and recreation experiences for young people. They are based on good practice and a range of research.
The principles consider the needs of young people when planning and implementing programmes. This resource advocates for the needs of young people in sport and recreation. The impact we want is more opportunities for children and young people to enjoy quality sport experiences.
The 10 principles are also supported by 10 case studies, which give an example of good practice that implement the principle.
The Good Practice Principle Resource helps by:
• guiding the development of an organisation’s policy for children and young people in sport
• providing a checklist for consideration when developing or reviewing sport programmes
• helping develop a consistent approach to children and young people’s sport
• addressing often-asked questions about children’s sport.
