This is the final report for the research project ‘Health and physical activity promotion: A qualitative examination of the effect of receiving a Green Prescription (GRx)’. The project was funded by a SPARC research grant and was conducted between May 2007 and March 2008.
The prime aim of this study was to examine the various inter-related factors that shape how individuals respond to a Green Prescription (written advice from a general practitioner or practice nurse to a patient encouraging them to be more physically active). This study examined individuals’ reflections on the process of receiving a GRx and respective understandings of how various socio-cultural and environmental factors influence physical activity (PA) behaviours.
