Abstract
Harbour Sport’s ActivAsian team surveyed 91 Chinese students in 4 primary schools on the North Shore:
- Sunnynook Primary School
- Sunnybrae Normal School
- Takapuna Primary School
- Willow Park Primary School
This is the second year that this survey is carried out. The main objective of the survey is to explore the sporting interests and barriers faced by Chinese students and families. Key findings include:
- 71% of students played sport afterschool (72% in 2009) the majority participated in swimming
- 88.9% of the children surveyed would like to play more sports(91% in 2009), top three sports being Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton.
- The barriers to sport were that they do other things and that sport is too expensive, which is the same as those in 2009.
