Abstract

The goal of the study was to determine a) the cardiovascular consequence of adolescent type 2 diabetes vs. obesity and b) whether exercise training could prevent these consequences. We found Type 2 diabetic adolescents have reduced cardiac reserve (ability for the heart to increase function during exercise) than their age-matched obese counterparts and the compliance of the type 2 diabetic group was very poor.
