Abstract
Every year national gaming machine societies (Class 4 gaming) distribute a significant amount of funds to the sport and recreation sector in New Zealand. Grants from all the gaming machine societies contribute an estimated $120 – 130 million annually to the sector.
The report Gaming Funding into the Sport and Physical Activity/Recreation Sector 2012 (May 2014) looks at the contribution of four societies that distribute the majority of grants to the sport and recreation sector – the New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT), Southern Trust, Pub Charity, and the Lion Foundation. Information is provided on where funding goes (by sport and region) and for what purpose. The results for 2012 are also compared with those from 2010 and 2007.
