Abstract

The 2012 Quality of Life survey was a partnership between six New Zealand Councils. The survey aims to measure respondents’ perceptions in several domains, including:

·          Quality of life

·          Health and wellbeing

·          Crime and safety

·          Community, culture and social networks

·          Council decision-making processes

·          Environment

·          Public Transport

·          Lifestyle – work and study.

Topics of interest relating to sport and recreation include physical activity participation, social networks (including sports clubs), built and natural environment (e.g. availability of parks and green spaces), and lifestyle (including reasons for pride in a city such as facilities/things to do; and work/life balance).
