Abstract

This report comes out annually after the annual enhancement programme takes place and provides a report back and snapshot for the participating schools, (especially the principals) and providers.

The Papatoetoe’s Principal Association (PPA) began an enhancement, challenge programme for identified students in Year 4, 5 and 6 in 2003 that included all nine Papatoetoe Primary Schools.

Primary Sport have been involved for the last five years coordinating a module suitable for talented sports children and pupils interested in sports.  The Trust already runs other modules such as maths, drama and specialist science.

he purpose was to challenge and enhance students whose needs where sometimes not met during the school day. Primary Sport provided 25 hours of sport per child over a week. The children tried 20 different sports delivered by Regional and National Sporting Trusts and Primary Sport Coaches.

The programme ran over 4 weeks at The Allan Brewster Centre, 106 pupils attended the programme with approximately 100 hours of practical skills learning in total.
