Abstract

This project summarises the state of knowledge in New Zealand on participation levels and trends for a range of outdoor recreation activities. It relates these to information on search and rescue (SAR) incidents and ACC injury claims to identify any features and patterns of incidents occurring in outdoor recreation. This is a baseline scoping study which addressed many topic areas not previously addressed. As such it identifies many information points, information gaps and key research and information questions.
