Abstract
Harbour Sport’s ActivAsian team surveyed 65 Korean students in 4 primary schools on the North Shore:
- Sunnynook Primary School
- Sunnybrae Normal School
- Takapuna Primary School
- Willow Park Primary School
This is the first time that Korean students were surveyed in the 4 target schools. The main objective of the survey is to explore the sporting interests and barriers faced by Korean students and families. Key findings include:
- 78.3% of students played sport after school, with the majority participating in swimming, followed by football (soccer).
- 90.6% of students said they would like to play MORE sports, the top three sports being football, tennis and swimming.
- Main barriers to sports are that they do other things (43.1%) and sport is too expensive (39.7%)
- 38.7% of students want to play more of or start to play Football in the future.
