Abstract
The Sport and Recreation Programming for Children and Young People Initiative was an endeavour to better understand the state of play in terms of programmes and activities available for Auckland youth (0-18 years) to participate in sport and recreation. Information was sought Auckland-wide and was not restricted to those programmes that had legacy council involvement but the broadest range of programmes identifiable within the project timeframe.
This information was synthesised to provide Auckland Council with a series of recommendations for their consideration, scoping and consultation as they determine their role, priorities and objectives in this space.
The report is termed a ‘Draft’ under council protocols because Auckland Council were using it as the basis for sector consultation to ascertain sector priorities arising from the recommendations.
