Abstract

‘Way2Go’ is a Nelson/Tasman Active Communities project that aims to increase the physical activity levels of the community.

The project is a collection of region-wide strategies that ensure active choices are easy to make. It focuses on those who are aware they should be active but currently are not.

The wide range of ‘Way2Go’ programmes and activities are delivered through regional community ‘hubs’ incorporating both rural and urban areas, managed by co-ordinators that facilitate activities, and deliver information specific to the area.

Further information on the various programmes being run through each hub can be found at www.way2go.org.nz.

This case study takes a look at how ‘Way2Go’ began, examples of successful programmes, key partnerships, funding and sustainability, and a number of key lessons and good practice.
